Fisheries Management Plans

The Scottish Inshore Fisheries Strategy outcomes, which drive the design of Fisheries Managment Plans were recently reaffirmed within the Future Fisheries Management in Scotland National Discussion paper.

• improving the evidence base on which fisheries management decisions are made;
• streamlining fisheries governance, and promoting stakeholder participation; and
• embedding inshore fisheries management into wider marine planning.

Execution of Fisheries Management Plans

The Regional Inshore Fisheries Groups' Fisheries Management Plans will likely include a combination of actions which can be implemented locally as well as those which require Scottish Government intervention including new legislation and/or fishing licence conditions.
