Orkney Brown Crab MSC Draft Report 2017

The Orkney brown crab fishery entered MSC assessment after completing a 5 year FIP. It assessment in entered in 2017.

The brown crab fishery in Orkney was scored against the MSC standard and fell short of passing by one point due to being unable to regionally set harvest control rules for the fishery, however highly it scored against the other criteria. 

The fishery is still actively working to meet sustainablility criteria by engaging with stakeholders and collecting data on the fishery on a routine basis.
